Cancer Treatment Center Takes 45,000 SF In Boca For HQ
A new cancer treatment provider is setting up shop in Boca Raton, with plans to spend $4 million to improve its newly leased space.
Vicinitas Cancer Care, an affiliate of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, leased 45,000 square feet of office space at 1200 N. Federal Highway for its new headquarters. The property belongs to 1200 North Federal Associates LLC, an affiliate of Pennsylvania-based Keystone Property Group.
Its new tenant is part of a nationwide network of physicians and oncology care providers affiliated with Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s five hospitals.
The deal will result in a $4 million capital investment from Vicinitas to renovate and equip the space, according to the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, which assisted the firm with site selection, local and state incentives, and workforce recruitment.
Vicinitas got $1.81 million in state and local grants, including $350,000 from Boca Raton and $1.46 million in tax and other incentives from the state. In return Vicinitas will create 200 full-time jobs within five years, according to information from the Business Development Board.
“The addition of Vicinitas Cancer Care reinforces the value of Palm Beach County and the city of Boca Raton as a location of choice for the health care industry and for corporate headquarters facilities,” said Kelly Smallridge, the development board’s president and CEO.
Vicinitas’ new operation is the second major healthcare coup for Boca Raton. In January, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America announced plans to move its corporate headquarters from suburban Chicago to Boca Raton, bringing 225 jobs to the city. It left Schaumburg, citing South Florida’s favorable business climate.
1200 Corporate Place is a 137,021-square-foot, four-story office building with a two-story parking garage situated on a 5.3 acre site in Boca on Federal Highway at the termination of Glades Road just 2.25 miles east of Interstate 95.
Update: The affiliate of Cancer Treatment Centers, Vicinitas Cancer Care only took about 4,000 square feet with a plan to expand to 40,000 square feet in the future.
