Who Will Become The Home Of The Whopper?

In what could be a whopper of a deal, Burger King Worldwide is looking to move its corporate headquarters, and it’s considering downtown Miami’s Omni Center as a possible landing spot.
Sources told SFBJ that the company is considering several Miami-Dade County neighborhoods that could handle its parking requirements or allow for a brand-new building.
The company leases more than 200,000 square feet as the lone tenant at 5505 Blue Lagoon Drive. It has five years on its lease.
Apparently, the current owner is not interested in letting Burger King give up more than 50,000 square feet of space, so BK has chosen to relocate, according to sources who asked to not be identified. In the end, BK plans to stay in Miami-Dade, one of the sources said.
Burger King HQIn an email to brokers obtained by the Business Journal, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank Vice Chairman Jon Bourbeau is offering part or all of the building as a sublease.
The Omni Center has enough space and can handle the parking requirements, but pricing there and in the Brickell neighborhood may eliminate them from the running, sources said. Midtown and Coral Gables both have enough land for a build-to-suit.
When they figure out all this location stuff, I hope they’ll spend some time on what to do with that creepy “King” they call a mascot.
Ick, right?
