Butters Construction Secures Approval For Tamarac Industrial Project

A former education property in Tamarac is set to be redeveloped into an 84,245-square-foot light industrial facility following site plan approval from the city commission.

Butters Construction & Development plans to build the project, known as Coast Logistics, at 5600 North Hiatus Road. The development will replace a 19,983-square-foot, single-story building previously occupied by Gold Coast School, a provider of real estate education.

Malcolm Butters, CEO of Butters Construction, told city commissioners that the school no longer requires the property as educational programs increasingly move online.

Plans for the industrial building include 16 loading bays, two loading ramps and a two-way internal drive that will accommodate tractor-trailers behind the facility. The site will also provide 85 standard parking spaces and four ADA-accessible spaces.

Vehicles will enter the property from North Hiatus Road through an access point shared with the neighboring real estate office property at 5850 North Hiatus Road.

The commission’s approval clears the way for demolition of the existing school building and development of the new logistics facility.
