And The Winners Are…

The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches announced the winners of the esteemed ‘The Outstanding Building of Year’ (TOBY) awards at its annual gala on Friday night, November 1st, 2013 at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort in Fort Lauderdale.
Over 350 building owners, property managers and service providers were in attendance. The TOBY Awards are considered to be the most prestigious awards for commercial real estate in the country and honors the finest in property management.
During the competition, all facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly evaluated from community involvement and site management to environmental policies and procedures.
AWARD CRITERIA
Buildings are awarded based on the following criteria: physical attractiveness, community impact, tenant/employee relations, building accessibility, emergency procedures, personnel and training. Individual awards are based on: experience, designations, education, contributions, participation in BOMA and major accomplishments. Winners may compete at a regional level and then advance to the International competition.  The International winners will be announced at the Every Building Conference & Expo in June 2014.
The winners of the BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches TOBY Awards from Broward and Palm Beach counties are:

  • Under 100,000 Square Foot Category

  • 100,000 to 249,999 Square Foot Category
    Lake Shore Plaza II owned and managed by Stiles Corporation. Property Manager: Kelly Trahan
  • 250,000 to 499,999 Square Foot Category

Awards were also given to individuals for outstanding contributions to BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches and their achievements in the property management industry.
Tim Hill Boma Rising StarTim Hill with Everglades Environmental Care, was honored as BOMA’s Rising Star of the Year.
Everglades Environmental Care,is a full service landscaping company based in Miami serving residential communities, commercial properties, and government agencies in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Everglades’ fields of expertise include landscape design, installation and maintenance, aquatic plant and wetlands development and management, as well as fertilization, pest control, tree trimming, irrigation installation, repair and maintenance.
The Rising Star Award honors those that have been a member less than 24 months, that promotes BOMA Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beaches with a high level of active involvement in the association, and provide a high level of professionalism when dealing with clients, other BOMA members, and the commercial real estate community.
Other individual award recipients include:

  • Building Engineer of the Year: Wayne Stracke, CBRE
  • Associate Member of the Year: Arty Pione, Code Red Restoration Services

  • Ron Macklin Scholarship Award: Sarah Marchitto, New Boston Fund and Megan Purdue, Stiles Property Management
