Butters Adds International Perspective To Team
Veteran real estate executive Vince La Mariana has joined Butters Realty & Management as senior vice president.
La Mariana’s responsibilities will include building Butters’ leasing and management platform as well as handling marketing of key office and industrial development assets in the Butters portfolio.
Previously, La Mariana served as senior director of office and industrial services in Tampa for Advantis Real Estate Services Co., a division of St. Joe Co., where he oversaw the marketing and leasing of more than 2 million square feet of upscale offices and state-of-the-art industrial facilities. More recently, La Mariana handled Class A listings for Cameron Property Advisors LLC in Tampa and central Florida.
La Mariana’s passion for international business took him to Jakarta, Indonesia, a pivotal Southeast Asian business hub, as a senior manager for Jones Lang LaSalle. In Jakarta, he handled leasing for some of the most spectacular office towers racing out of the ground in the late 1990s. From JLL, La Mariana took a general management position in leasing and management with Grade A Mulialand, the largest operator of Class A office in Jakarta. At Mulialand, he oversaw 5.2 million square feet encompassing eight office towers.
“It was a fantastic market to be in. The entire business district of Jakarta was being developed within a 10-year period – massive and mind-boggling growth,” La Mariana said of the six years he spent in Southeast Asia. “If you can do deals in Southeast Asia, you can do deals anywhere.”
La Mariana returned to Florida real estate in late 2001, landing in Tampa to reposition and lease up Bayport Plaza, a 270,000-square-foot trophy property on Old Tampa Bay, controlled by UBS Realty Advisors LLC. He also handled a basket of other Class A office and industrial properties throughout Tampa Bay.
“We are excited about having Vince join our team,” Malcolm Butters said. “He brings an international perspective to our team, along with many years of experience. He will be a great asset and can propel us to the next level.”
Based in Coconut Creek, Butters Realty & Management is a division of the Butters Group, a fully integrated development, construction, realty and management firm founded in 1990.
In the past year, Butters and its partners have introduced three projects that will ultimately deliver more than 2 million square feet of state-of-the-art warehouse, distribution and business facilities to the Miami market.
“Butters has rapidly become one of the most dynamic and active players in the Miami industrial market,” La Mariana said of his decision to join the Butters team. “So it made sense that Butters’ strategy to position itself as a major builder in Miami, a market driven by international supply chains and commerce, would be excellent fit for my background.”
