Global Packaging Manufacturer Selects Downtown Miami Tower For New U.S. Headquarters
Amcor has signed a lease for approximately 33,800 square feet at Southeast Financial Center, adding another international company to downtown Miami’s growing roster of corporate tenants.
The global packaging manufacturer will use the space at 200 South Biscayne Boulevard for a new U.S. headquarters expected to begin operations in 2027. The company previously announced plans to consolidate certain corporate functions in Miami as it moves resources closer to its U.S. business operations. Amcor also expects to hire employees locally to support the new office.
Amcor produces packaging products for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical and consumer goods industries. The company maintains a global corporate presence, with Switzerland and Australia continuing to serve as important business hubs following the opening of the Miami headquarters.
The lease places Amcor inside one of downtown Miami’s most recognizable office properties. Southeast Financial Center is a 55-story, approximately 1.2-million-square-foot tower offering conference facilities, a fitness center, dining options, valet parking and direct access to the downtown transportation network.
The building is owned by Ponte Gadea, the real estate investment company associated with Zara founder Amancio Ortega. Ponte Gadea acquired the property for approximately $516.6 million in 2016.
Amcor’s commitment represents another notable new-to-market office lease for Miami. International companies and financial firms continue to establish or expand operations in South Florida, although many initially enter the market through relatively modest office footprints.
The 33,800-square-foot transaction stands out as a comparatively substantial headquarters commitment and provides further evidence that downtown Miami remains competitive for companies seeking a prominent U.S. location.
