Merging Law Firms To Leave Brickell With 26,000 SF Vacancy

Carlton Fields is merging with Jorden Burt to form a new law firm with around 350 attorneys headquartered in Tampa.
Two large Miami offices will be combined into one location at Carlton Field’s current home in the Miami Tower, located at 100 S.E. Second Street in Downtown Miami.
Expected to be final in January, the merger will result in a 25,924-square-foot vacancy of Jorden Burt’s current offices located at the SunTrust Building at 777 Brickell.  Jorden Burt, which specializes in class action defense, trial work, and representation of the financial services industry, has a reported 24 attorneys at the Brickell location.
For the near future, the combined firm will be called Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, said firm spokesman Adam Miller.
Tampa-based Carlton Fields is among the larger law firms in Florida, with a reported 123 attorneys in South Florida. It has offices in Miami and in West Palm Beach at CityPlace Tower, as well as offices in Atlanta and New York. The combination is likely to move the firm, or the successor firm, from the sixth largest in South Florida to the fourth largest, according to recently reported numbers of lawyers.
The leasing for the SunTrust Building is represented by Taylor & Mathis.
