Ohio Plane Crash Claims Lives Of 7 Execs And Employees From South Florida CRE Firm

Seven executives and employees of Boca Raton-based commercial real estate firm Pebb Enterprises were killed in a plane crash on Nov. 10 in Akron, Ohio.
Police told local news outlets that none of the nine people on board survived.
Pebb Enterprises released a statement to CBS-12 News in Akron saying that two principals and five employees were on the plane. A number of sources including WPLG Local 10 News and SunSentinel identified the seven Pebb Enterprises employess on board:

Gary Shapiro, Director of Leasing
Diane Smoot, Director of Lease Administration
Diana Suriel, Project Manager Assistant
Thomas Virgin, Director of Construction/Development
Nick Weaver
Jared Weiner, Principal

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that there was a pilot and co-pilot on the plane who were registered to fly on the plane along with the seven Pebb Enterprises employees.
“Our hearts are broken this morning with the news of the tragic accident that took the lives of two principals and five employees of Pebb Enterprises,” the company said on its website. “We are shocked and deeply saddened for the families, colleagues and friends of those who perished. Our first priority is to give our fullest support to the family members and loved ones of our co-workers.”
The plane departed from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport on Monday for a trip to Ohio, reportedly so the executives could scout for shopping malls. It crashed 36 minutes after leaving Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport on Nov. 10 at 2:13 p.m. It was on route to Akron Fulton International Airport.
Pebb Enterprises is a family-owned commercial real estate firm founded in 1972 by Paul, Eleanor, Barbara and Bruce Weiner and later run by their children. It has invested in retail and office properties throughout South Florida, in addition to other states. It has been actively developing and trading retail properties in recent years.
