South Florida Litigation Firm Unveils New, 18,000 SF Office In Downtown Miami

Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, P.L. (Kluger Kaplan) announced the official opening of its new headquarters on the 18th floor of the iconic Citigroup Center office building in Downtown Miami.

The litigation and appellate firm, which originally signed its lease in the tower in 1996, has moved into a newly constructed purpose-built workspace designed to reflect the future of legal practice.

As the building’s longest-running tenant, the firm – which has grown to 40 attorneys – worked closely with Citigroup Center’s ownership which provided substantial support toward the renovation. The move from the 27th floor to the 18th floor is a strategic shift toward a more efficient footprint and includes upgraded technology and a design that fosters collaboration among attorneys and staff.

“Downtown Miami has been our home since 1986,” said Founding Member Alan Kluger. “While we explored our options, there’s a strong sense of history here, along with the location, accessibility, and relationships we’ve built over decades. Just as importantly, this move gave us the opportunity to create a new space designed with our attorneys and staff in mind – enhancing the day-to-day experience while allowing us to remain in the building that has long been central to our identity.”

According to JLL’s Law Firm Perspective report, firms are reassessing their office needs in response to changing work patterns. As part of its transition toward a more efficient and paperless operation, Kluger Kaplan reduced its footprint and storage needs. The new office embraces a shared workspace model supported by a digital reservation system that allows attorneys and staff to book offices and conference rooms up to seven days in advance. The model eliminates the need for one-to-one office assignments while ensuring flexibility and fairness.

“We were intentional about building a space that works differently than traditional law firm layouts,” said Shareholder Josh Rubens, who was actively involved in the office renovation. “Our previous office was comparatively dark and dated. We wanted a smarter, more modern environment that reflects how we practice today. This new space is almost entirely glass, filled with natural light, and designed to help our team see each other, collaborate, and connect.”

Designed by architect G. Alvarez, the new office minimizes drywall wherever possible, incorporating extensive glass walls and two-and-a-half-foot sidelights to increase visibility and brightness. Sit-stand desks are standard throughout the office, and digital screens outside rooms integrate with the firm’s reservation app. The overall design emphasizes openness and transparency while still incorporating privacy features, including designated Zoom rooms for mediations and hearings and blinds in select areas when confidentiality is required.

The new space includes four conference-style rooms, with a main conference room that accommodates 24 people, a dedicated mock courtroom for arbitrations and trial preparation, and multiple breakout areas. A co-working space equipped with dual monitors and lockers provides flexible workstations for peak days in the office. The firm maintains a structured in-office schedule several days per week to foster mentorship and professional development among younger attorneys.

Colliers South Florida represented the firm in the lease renewal.
