Stiles Awarded 50,000 SF Build-To-Suit

Stiles announced today that the company will develop a 50,000-square-foot build-to-suit flagship store for West Marine (Nasdaq:WMAR) in Fort Lauderdale, FL. West Marine, the biggest specialty retailer of boating supplies and accessories, has signed a long-term lease agreement with Stiles to lease the space, which will be the largest West Marine boating store in the company to date. Stiles anticipates completing the store in the fourth quarter of this year.
West Marine will relocate its Fort Lauderdale store from its present 25,000-square-foot facility at 2300 South Federal Highway to this new location at 2401 South Andrews Avenue, on the highly visible southwest corner of State Road 84 and Andrews Avenue.
The new superstore will be by far the largest West Marine store to date  and will be focused on serving both local and seasonal boating customers. The store is expected to have the widest inventory of boating hardware, electronics and audio equipment, maintenance products, and safety and foul weather gear of any West Marine store in the state, as well as a large selection of technical and casual apparel, footwear and accessories. In addition, the store is expected to possess a comprehensive core engine parts department, marine plumbing and electrical supplies and inflatable boats, kayaks, rigged boats and outboards.
“This project offers Stiles a rare opportunity to invest in and develop a superior quality retail store with a significant long-term tenant in an excellent location where we already have a track record for success,” said Robert Breslau, President of Stiles Real Estate Investment Services. “West Marine has built a strong presence not only in this city, but also throughout the country, and we believe this new superstore will further establish Fort Lauderdale as the yachting capital of the world.”
