Wynwood Park Design Competition Gets International Interest

The organizers of the Wynwood Gateway Park design competition say they have received submissions from more than 10 countries as the entry deadline approaches.
Applicants from Australia, China, India, Iran, Japan and several European and Latin American nations are vying for the right to design the park behind the Wynwood Gateway building.
Wynwood’s Gateway Building, developed by Metro 1 CEO and founder Tony Cho, was recently completed.
The signature building, which sits at the entrance of Miami’s hottest new submarket, The Wynwood Arts District, at 2825 NW 2nd Avenue, offers restaurant and retail opportunities within the famed creative arts district, including 2,650 square feet of retail space, 1,000 square feet of green space and an additional 1,200 square feet of café space.  International luxury motorcycle brand Ducati will anchor the project with a 6,000 square foot showroom.
Online entries can be submitted until June 10 at www.dawntown.org. A panel of judges is slated to convene and select finalists on June 17.
The panel includes Cho, architects Raymond Jungles, Enrique Norten and Allan Shulman and former Miami Art Museum director Terrance Riley.
“We want the Wynwood Gateway Park to become an important part of Wynwood and the Miami community at large for years to come,” Cho said. “We hope others will follow suit and work to develop programs and initiatives that engage and ultimately enhance their communities.”
