Looking to reduce speeding, improve traffic flow and aid pedestrians at a problematic Brickell Bay Drive intersection, a neighboring office tower is footing the bill to construct a traffic circle with crosswalks.
Sabadell Financial Center landlord 1111 Brickell Office is planning a $400,000-plus improvement at Brickell Bay Drive and SE 12th Street to ease traffic and improve pedestrian access, said Maggie Kurtz, director of office brokerage for Cushman & Wakefield and leasing representative for Sabadell Financial.
Additions are to include a roundabout with crosswalks, a raised curb to minimize blind spots and landscaping.
Construction is to begin by mid-year and be completed by first quarter 2012.
