FIU Takes 32,000sf On Brickell

The public university signed the 10-year, $12 million lease with Florida East Coast Realty for three floors at 1101 Brickell Ave. Starting in the fall, it will house programs of FIU’s College of Business Administration, School of International and Public Affairs and the Metropolitan Center.

The Metropolitan Center is currently at 150 S.E. Second Ave. in downtown Miami, and FIU offers graduate-level classes in the Macy’s building. It will leave those locations.
The new facility could house 1,000 students when it opens.

“We are making a significant commitment to the downtown area because our students and alumni tell us they need greater access to evening graduate programs near their offices,” FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg said in a news release. “From the onset, FIU Downtown on Brickell will be a place where leaders on the international stage come to hone their skills.”
The new campus will offer mostly graduate-level classes and professional development workshops. FIU said the initial offerings there will be:

  • Professional MBA
  • Master of Science in international real estate
  • Master of Science in finance
  • Health care MBA
  • Master of Public Administration
  • Master of Arts in global governance
