The Graham Companies To Build New 51,200 SF Education Facility

Miller Construction Company has begun construction of a two-story, 51,200-square-foot higher education facility for developer and owner The Graham Companies at 15201 NW 79 Court in Miami Lakes.
The $7.4 million, single-user structure on an 8.5-acre site will be the new Sistema Universitario Ana G. Méndez South Florida Campus, which has signed a 15-year lease with The Graham Companies and is expanding from its current location in Miramar. The Puerto Rico-based university operates 15 university centers throughout the island territory and five in the U.S., including additional Florida locations in Orlando and Tampa.
Miller is handling shell construction of the build-to-suit facility to include 21 classrooms, plus teaching labs, a library and administrative offices, according to Miller Sr. Vice President Brian Sudduth. Slated for completion in spring 2017, the fast-track construction project will require interior build-out to begin during shell construction.

“The Miller team’s input and organization from the earliest stages produced an efficient design that meets our budget and proforma, while providing great functionality for the University,” said Larry Nienaber, vice president, construction of The Graham Companies. “By viewing our client as their own client, Miller ensures decisions are being made to benefit and create the greatest value for both the developer and tenant.”

This is Miller Construction Company’s latest project for The Graham Companies. The two firms previously teamed to create the 66,000-square-foot LeRoy Collins Office Building and the 42,000-square-foot Parkside IV office building, both located in the Miami Lakes Business Park West.

“Ultimately, bringing in a project on time and on schedule is all about performance – and Miller is a strong, proven performer,” Nienaber added.

Miller Construction is also responsible for construction and major renovation of higher education facilities for clients including Nova Southeastern University, Palm Beach State College and the Miami International University of Art & Design.
