Avison Young VP Departs, Joins NAI Miami As CEO, COO

NAI Miami, a member of the world’s premier network of commercial real estate firms, is pleased to announce Stephen Nostrand has joined the firm as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
Jeremy S. Larkin and Edward L. Schmidt, CCIM, who held those titles, will be elevated to the newly created roles of Co-Chairmen, board members and constitute the Company’s executive committee.  For decades, Jeremy and Ed have been successful business drivers at NAI Miami and will fully refocus their efforts on revenue production and strategic growth initiatives while in their leadership roles.

“This is the opportunity of my lifetime to join with two of the most well respected owners in the commercial real estate business in South Florida and lead the way to producing a new level of growth and success for NAI Miami. Our industry is changing rapidly.  We are going to stay at its forefront to deliver the best results to our clients and the best place to work for our brokers and employees”, Mr. Nostrand said.

Stephen has over 35 year’s experience in commercial real estate operations, leasing, sales, management, development and finance. He is the third generation in his family specializing in the industry.
Stephen served as CEO of Colliers International South Florida since October 2005, where he lead the client service platforms and 35 brokers in three offices throughout South Florida with annual revenue of over $400,000,000.  In December 2014, Colliers International South Florida was acquired by Avison Young, where Stephen served as Senior Vice President.

“Stephen’s impressive track record makes him a natural choice for this position,” said NAI Miami’s Co-Chairman Ed Schmidt. “We are extremely excited to have Stephen become an integral part of our organization. He is well respected in the commercial real estate industry and will bring a great deal of experience, drive and focus to the company.”

“After our most recent strategic plan review, we were positioned to move growth forward by bringing in a seasoned professional to run the company’s operations so Ed and I can devote full time to client facing activites.  Steve is the most qualified person in South Florida to do that.  We were fortunate he was available and interested”, stated Larkin.

When not at work, Stephen serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami’s Master’s Program for Real Estate Development and Urbanism where he has taught since 2004 and was voted Professor of the Year in 2011.
